Set up a Bullhorn Integration

Updated this week

Connecting Bullhorn to HireAra allows your team to seamlessly export files from HireAra back into Bullhorn. Follow the steps below to complete the setup.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Admin access in Bullhorn

  • The following details provided by your HireAra Customer Success Manager:

    • Unique URL

    • File Type Name

Once you have these, you can start configuring the integration inside Bullhorn.

Step 1: Add HireAra to Bullhorn

  1. Log in to Bullhorn as an admin

  2. Click Menu, then the Admin tile, then View Layout

  3. In the View Layout tab, select Candidate from the Entity dropdown

  4. Select Custom Tabs, then click the Add New button

  5. Configure the new tab:

    • Name: Enter the name that will appear on the tab in Bullhorn (we recommend "HireAra")

    • Enabled: Check this box

    • URL: Copy and paste the URL provided by your HireAra CSM

    • Partner Name: Leave this field blank

    • User Types: Select all user types that should have access to HireAra

  6. Click Save

Step 2: Add the Custom File Type to Bullhorn

  1. While logged into Bullhorn as an admin, click Menu, then the Admin tile, then System Settings

  2. Type filetypelist into the search field and click Filter

  3. Open the fileTypeList option in the table

  4. At the end of the Value field, add a comma, then paste the File Type Name you received from your HireAra CSM

    • Do not include any spaces that aren't in the name itself

  5. Click Save Changes

  6. You may need to log out and back in for the changes to take effect

After completing these steps, you should be able to use the Bullhorn integration.

Step 3: Add HireAra to the Workflow (Optional)

  1. While logged in as an admin, click Menu, then the Admin tile, then System Settings

  2. Type candidate workflow steps into the search field and click Filter

  3. Open the candidateWorkFlowSteps option in the table

  4. In the Value field, enter ,[File: followed by the File Type Name (exactly as before), then close with ]

    • Example: ,[File:HireAra CV]

    • You can insert this between any pre-existing options—this determines where it will appear in the workflow

    • Do not add spaces except for those in the File Type Name itself

  5. Click Save Changes

  6. You may need to log out and back in for the changes to take effect

When configured correctly, a box with your File Type Name will appear in the workflow on the candidate's overview page. It will be highlighted green when a file of that type exists in the Files tab (files are created by exporting from HireAra).
