Use the placeholder tags

Use the placeholder tags in HireAra to transfer data that you've manually entered into your CV to another template.

Updated over a month ago

Placeholder tags in HireAra allow you to carry over information that you manually add to a CV when switching between templates. They can also act as placeholders for information not usually included in a candidate's CV but that you want displayed in your template.

⚠️ Important: You must have Admin or Brand Editor access to create or modify placeholder tags. Contact your account lead if you do not have the required permissions.

By following these steps, you can add placeholder tags to your templates.

Use placeholder tags

Follow these steps to create and use placeholder tags in your templates.

  1. Click Branding, then click Placeholder Tags.

  2. Click the dropdown menu, then select the type of placeholder tag you want to create.

  3. Enter a name for the placeholder tag, then click Create.

  4. Open the template where you want to use the tag.

  5. Press @, then type the name of the placeholder tag to insert it into the template.

📌 Note: For information entered into a placeholder tag to transfer between templates, both templates must contain the same placeholder tag.

Best practices

  • Use the same placeholder tag across all relevant templates to ensure information transfers correctly between them.

  • Name placeholder tags clearly so they are easy to identify in the template builder, for example PH: Availability.

  • Use placeholder tags only in free text sections, as they cannot be added to employment history or education sections.

  • Choose the correct tag length before inserting it. Short tags allow multiple tags on the same row, while long tags typically take up the full row.
