How to add and manage page breaks

Updated over a month ago

The HireAra platform automatically inserts page breaks based on layout and content. However, you have full control over how sections appear across pages using two types of tools:

  • ✂️ Manual page breaks – force a page break at a specific point

  • 🧩 Smart section break settings – control how sections behave when breaking across pages

✂️ Manually Insert a Page Break

Use this when you want to force a page to end at a specific point in a document or template.

How to Insert a Manual Page Break

  1. Open the document or template

    • CV Editor: for individual documents

    • Template Builder: for admins creating or editing templates

  2. Click where you want the page break
Place your cursor at the desired break point.

  3. Insert the break

    • Click the Page Break button (found in the toolbar)

Tip

To delete a manual page break in the CV editor, place your cursor just after the break and press Backspace

🧠 Control Automatic Page Breaks with Section Settings

To improve readability and avoid awkward breaks in the middle of sections (e.g. Experience, Education), use the new smart controls:

Never Break Section (Toggle)

  • Keeps the entire section on a single page

  • Ideal for shorter sections or when grouping is important

Prevent Orphaned Lines (Slider)

  • Lets you define the minimum number of lines that must appear before a break

  • Prevents lonely lines at the top or bottom of a page
(e.g. if set to 3 lines, the system won’t allow just 1 or 2 lines to be left before or after a break)

These controls are available only for our admin users creating templates in the template builder.
